thank you! congratulations! feel better!

i have a new craft love....

cards

i used to spend sooo much time and money picking out and paying for cards, respectively. i like my cards to look a certain way, which usually means i paid about five bucks a card.

argh.

but i have recently come to understand this very simple craft equation

blank card + scrap fabric + fabric glue = any card i could ever want on the cheap

hello?!?! best formula ever!

and i particularly needed some thank you cards lately (when do i not need cards for something? i always need cards: exhibit a, b, and c)

jason used these cards, but i am planning on finally using the cards i make for myself. one day!

sorry fo the dark pictures, we are actually trying to figure out how to make our house more brightly lit, and less like ambient lighting

it's great when you are sleepy, but when i am trying to study and stay up late and we got the ambient lighting going on.....i die. and not in the awesome rachel zoe kind of way.

but since we are in an apartment, we can't put anything permanently on the walls so.....more floor lamps? that might be awkward

maybe we should just carry flashlights everywhere. and shine them where we need more light

oh and can i pick a favorite? these are just cards, not my future children, but i sometimes feel bad about choosing a favorite even out of my crafts. don't hate me.

oh y the way, this is my favorite. it's just....i mean.....i am addicted to bows. i can't help it. i have never liked bows until two years ago. strange? maybe.

now i just need some elegant awesome handwriting and these would look totz rad

totz. rad.

so now that we have covered overpriced cards, my home's bad lighting, and picking favorites.....
which one is your favorite? it's okay, i won't judge :)

happy birthday to you.

yay! cards are so much fun to make! and so easy.....and way cheaper than their store-bought counterparts
like this one
and since birthdays happen so often, let us make a birthday card. ya?
sorry for the bad lighting :)

so you will need

a card + envelope
scissors
pencil
two coordinating scraps of fabric
glue
pen
small piece of thin elastic or elastic thread

1. cut out a triangle

2. glue it to the card

3. take the other piece of fabric and cut out a circle. glue it on.

 4. take a small piece of elastic/elastic thread and glue the end underneath the triangle

AH! SO CUTE! take that papyrus!

optional: i then cut out a little heart...

and glued it onto the envelope

even cuter!!! ah!!!!

oh and guess how long it took? MAYBE five minutes. with taking pictures. so i'm gonna say like two minutes.

cheap. fast. easy. awesome.
that's my craft motto :)

so try this out, and let me know how it turns out!
happy crafting!

feel better, friends

that's right. you no longer have to pay like four bucks for a cute papyrus card because their designs are just so amazing and the other cheaper cards don't express your classy emotions well enough.

i feel ya.

it seems like a lot of my friends are getting injured or are becoming ill, and maybe that is a common occurrence in your life as well. if that is the case, boy have i got the card for you

i wanted to make a card that was cute and cheap- my two favorite things. so i did.

want to make some?

you will need
a blank card and envelope
some tacky glue
three band aids
and a pen

so

1. place a band aid a quarter of the way down on the card

2. place band aids like so, leaving a space between the second and third band aid with the help of the band aid scraps (don't throw those away yet!)

3. write 'feel better' or 'get well' or 'cucumber bananas' with one word on each little band aid piece

4. put some glue on the back of each band aid piece and place carefully

voila! take that overpriced papyrus cards!

mine are just as cute and only cost about a penny! ha!

do any of you have cute cards you make?
i need to build a stash.....

August 16, 2011

oh, why thank you!

so, i was going through my drawer the other day in search of thank you cards and found these

unless i am thanking someone for buying my a sled.......these are pretty much useful only half of a month every year. i think it's time to beef up these cards usability. i am pretty sure that's a word.

anyway, i decided to give them a facelift since i love the silver lettering and i really need more thank you cards
so i came up with this

let's make some!

you will need
cards (preferably with a smaller design to cover up, or completely plain)
colored paper
scissor
glue
funky 70s disco music

1. cut out all your circles and all your leaves. i cut four for each circle, and made one much smaller than the other. then, i cut two leaves

2. stack your flower pieces together using a little bit of glue in the center. stack stack stack

3. glue your leaves on first, wherever you decide is best

4. glue on the larger flower

5. glue on the smaller flower

6. go thank people for stuff! and make more and more and more :)

what is the weirdest card you have ever received?
mine: for our wedding, we were given a mozeltov, star of david themed wedding card and we are lds...my husband's nose must have thrown them off.i guess it is not that weird....just wrong religion. nbd. ps- isn't my husband hawt (spelled wrong for emphasis)?
hahaha
so 'fess up: any weird cards out there?
